PLR, MRR and RR all stand for exclusive licensing rights for products that you can resell. PLR stands for Private Label Rights. MRR stands for Master Resale Rights, and RR stands for Resale Rights.In some ways they are similar but in important ways they are very different. In Online Marketing, private label rights (PLR) is a term you usually encounter, often used to describe many products commonly used by marketers. It is aptly named considering the fact that the right to re-sell often comes with it the right to re-label the product with your own brand. In a nutshell, private label rights are special licenses that allow an author or creator to sell his work giving varying rights to the buyer from personal use only to unrestricted rights. Simply put, a buyer can do whatever he wants with the product – chop an eBook to create special reports from it, rebrand software, or even create a podcast from articles, so long as he’s operating within the limits of the acquired rights.
Private label rights content comes in many forms such as graphics, software, eBooks, articles, sales pages, videos, and audios. As mentioned, these are products often used by online marketers to generate profit by either maximizing the PLR product for your own use or profit from it by reselling it. PLR has since evolved to a far more sophisticated concept, adopting many forms or classes of PLR rights. Like for example, you may earn the right to re-sell a product but you’re restricted from placing your name on it. Or you can earn via reselling rights.

1. PLR – Private Label Rights
Arguably the best type of product license since it provides you with the most freedom. PLR license entitles you to ‘own’ the entire product and individual copyright. You are allowed to modify the product the way you like — from minor altering to major overhaul — and you can even sell it at a higher price, or give it away as a freebie.
2. MRR – Master Resell Rights
You don’t own the copyright, but you own the ‘Master Rights’. This basically means you are free to use or sell the product or sell the same rights to others but you’re restricted from altering or modifying the product from its original form.
You may or may not also be allowed to apply for your own private label ownership in addition to the original copyright as indicated by that particular license.
3. RR – Resell Rights
You own the ‘Resell Rights’ but not the copyright. You’re not entitled to change or alter anything from its original form. Your freedom is limited to using and selling the product as is. You cannot sell or transfer these rights to others. Other restrictions may be laid out in the license.
