The first thing to say about PLR Products is that they are not all the same. There is some superb PLR content out there in the marketplace, but there is also an awful lot of dross!
You might see some online commentators or experts who suggest that, as you are going to have to significantly modify the materials in any event, the quality of the original PLR Product is irrelevant and does not matter.
I fundamentally disagree with this for a couple of reasons:
- Firstly, the PLR Products that you use are the ‘foundations’ upon which you build your final content materials. If you start off with poor quality foundations, then it is extremely unlikely that your finished product is going to be strong or of high quality either.
- Secondly, I have found that many poorer quality PLR Products are often factually wrong, or seriously out of date. On quite a few occasions, I have seen such low-quality materials quote ‘facts’ that were never anything of the sort, or statistics that are years out of date! (On Urban PLR all the facts and charts are for the year 2020-21, most updated content in the industry)
It would, therefore, follow that any product that you produced from such PLR materials would be fundamentally flawed, and that is going to do nothing whatsoever to help your reputation or your business.
In particular, be aware that free PLR materials are generally being given away free for a reason. In all probability, the reason is that it is impossible to sell them because of their intrinsic lack of quality and the fact that they, therefore, have little or no value.
Of course, this is a generalization, and no doubt it is sometimes possible to pick up free PLR content that is worth having. In fact, there is one very good free source that I will highlight later that definitely merits consideration, but it is probably the exception that proves the rule!
As a general guideline, PLR content is no different from most other things in life – you get what you pay for. The quality of your ‘foundation’ PLR materials does matter, of that, you should be in no doubt. To quote an old phrase, ‘you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear’, and trying to do so will be a massive waste of your time and effort. And you only have 7 days to start making money, so time is not something that you have got a lot of just at this moment.
The difference between good quality and bad PLR content materials:
Well, in my experience, using good quality materials basically means that you need to do some rewriting and that is about it.
With poor quality content, on the other hand, you have to check every ‘fact’ for accuracy, you probably need to update a lot of the statistics and then you need to rewrite it from the very first word to the last.
In fact, if the base PLR content that you are working with is poor, then you might as well have started from scratch and written the whole thing yourself!
